Wouldn't it be great if we lived in a world that if you run a business by the rules, your competiton will do the same with out doing things illegal or comletely wrong. That the only differance would be by the quality of service you provide.
Over the past ten years in the transportation business, new rules and regulations have been implemented, but unfortunately there is not enough people to enforce them. In New Jersey we have a law called the "New Jersey Limo Law", simple isn't it. Ask most people, they have never heard of it. Most law officials never heard of it.
Here is a major part, back ground checks for chauffuers. You can not put a driver on the road with out the State of New Jersey certifying them. Along with this for my own safety we do pre-hire and random drug testing.
Insurance and properly licensed vehicles. Crazy thought! If you hire a limousine service to pick you up, look at the license plates. If it does not have OL, limousine or omnibus any where on that plate, chances are good that vehicle should not be transporting passengers. And, if you have these plates, then you have to have a minimum insurance policy of one and a half million dollars. We have five.
LANJ, the association I belong to in New Jersey has worked hard to help the state enact laws to keep every one safe. But not everyone believes in abiding by them.
So when people call to us to get a quote, and sometimes you hear "I don't want to buy the car" I feel like saying to them "you get what you pay for, wish you luck".
I just know that as owner of my company, I can go to bed at night with the knowledge that I did every thing I could to keep my customers safe.
