Okay, I decided I wanted to find out what celebrating with 25 other people would be like on the Party Bus. And party we did! Although we only had 10 couples, do your math: 20 people, we had a blast.
What I always preach to people is, if you are going to party, you know PARTY, don't drive. And that means at the end of the night, get dropped off at your house. When the limo leaves the city, you don't magically sober up to drive your personal car home when you get back to the starting location. In this case, it was my house.
So last Friday, some of us gathered at my house. Then we picked up the rest of the group at various locations in Montvale and surrounding towns. Beer, wine and booze, we had it all. Hey, I just drink Coors Light, (stop the abuse, I don't need it, I'm not the only one). That's all I need. Off we went on our adventure of New York City. Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Hall Pass, the Hangover , just some thoughts as we head to have a good time.
With reservations at Carmine's on 90th and Broadway at 7:30 PM,we leisurely allowed one and a half hours into New York. And we needed every bit of it. Keep in mind, reservations can only be made at Carmine's with groups bigger than eight. So we fell under the right criteria. If you have never been to Carmine's, put it on your to do list. Not your bucket list, the garlic alone may kill you before you complete it.
As we pulled up to Carmine's we had to double park. Finding a parking spot for a Mini is hard enough; looking to fit a 40' luxury bus against the curb is exhilarating. As Carlos opened the door for us, the party atomosphere spilled out onto the sidewalks. Music blaring and people singing, this mixed group of young and old friends carried the party through the crowd and right into the resturant.
Stuffed and bloated, we got on the bus and headed south. Down Broadway we went in search of a happening night club. Because as I said in an earlier blog, "we are the beautiful people".
Thank goodness the wndows don't open because we had a "parte'" going on. At the corner of Broadway and 51st, we sat side by side with a Hummer limousine. Poor people scrunched inside that thing. As we passed thru Times Square, we shut off all the lights inside the bus. Most of us had cameras so we did a "Japanese drive by" of the Naked Cowboy.
As we headed into the Meat Packing District, we were in search of the famous Boom Boom Room located at the Standard Hotel. What a bummer! We didn't make the exclusive list. And our group was bigger than 10, the maximum number allowed in together.
So instead we headed around the corner to the Gansevoort Hotel, where "regular, beautiful people" are allowed into the Roof Top bar. I enjoyed paying for one Coors Light what I payed for a six pack. Hey, NYC.
After dancing and having a good time, we wanted to make one more stop for late night after dinner drinks. So we headed down to Thompson Street in the Villiage to a place called Cuba. Great little place on a great little street. Carlos was tested good. He passed.
Well, the night had to come to an end. So as most of us slept, we made our way back home to Montvale, with everyone getting home safe. This is difinitely the way to enjoy a night on the town!
