Winter Blues.

Summer time, summer time ,sum sum summer time. My son Michael got me a Beach Boys greatest hits CD for Christmas. I know what you are thinking, CD's how lame. Hey I finally got an updated version of Sal Soul Orchestra Christmas songs from my friend Harry on CD, so I was able to get rid of my eight track cassette. I kid you not.

As I look out at the snow piled up in my driveway, on my lawn, on my every thing! You got the idea. I am listening to summertime hits that make you think of the sand, beach and boardwalk among many other wonderful thoughts of summer. I bitch every year about how this is going to be my last winter here. Then it starts getting little lighter later and later. After snow falls the sun stays longer and the tempertures rise a little to melt the snow quicker. It all starts to become a little more bearable. And before you know it, Saint Patricks Day is here, then March Madness, then Easter and we are making plans for Memorial Day.

You know what, winter really wasn't that bad after all. How time heals.

This morning I got up at three forty five  in the morning getting ready to come over to the office to snow plow and shovel. Now, as I was getting up, my son John who was up, (nice to be a young adult) decided to come help me. It was great, that young blood saved me from doing all the hard labor. I just pushed the snow. For some crazy reason, as much as I hate the snow I enjoy being out in the middle of the night with no one around. Although this time it was good to have his help. It becomes very therapeutic.

I've been doing this for about six years now, and the funny thing is, when the winter starts I don't mine plowing. But, by the fifth or sixth storm, MAN I've had enough. In the beginning I'm like the plow drivers in the old DunkinDonuts commercial, where they are in the parking lot waiting for the first flake of snow.

Well enough complaining. Oh, by the way, it is almost four o'clock and the sun is still out. The sun has been setting closer to five every day now, and soon enough, we'll be looking at six and outside grilling those steaks. Summer time, summer time, sum sum summer time.
